The Apprenticeship Path.

Boilermaker apprenticeships cover pressure vessel construction and repair, welding, rigging, and industrial equipment installation. The welding component is rigorous — boilermakers often earn premium welding certifications. Much of the work is project-based at industrial sites, so apprentices should expect some travel.

How to apply

Applications are through local JATCs, not the international. Find your local's JATC website, check when they open applications (often 1–2 specific windows per year), and have your high school diploma/GED, transcripts, and algebra scores ready. Aptitude testing is standard at competitive locals.
